Author's Purpose, MLK, and Free ReadToday in class we took notes on author's purpose. Remember PIE- Persuade, Inform, Entertain. (See the link to a Power Point below.) Next, we worked on annotating MLK's "I Have a Dream" speech looking for the author's purpose (to persuade) and point-of-view. Finally we had time to free read. Remember that Feb. week 1 reading assignment is due Wednesday.
