I can compare ads in different mediums.

Part 1: Comparing Mediums

Today we extended the conversation we had last Friday about print vs. multimedia. We viewed several print ads and multimedia ads and compared them. We also discussed the techniques authors used to make their ads appealing and  attention grabbing. View the following Power Point and fill in the worksheet below.

Part 2: Trading Historical Figure Cards

If you weren't here, you can adapt what we did in class and total up the number of points your trading cards get. The only element of the activity you will not be able to participate in is trading cards. Also, instead of working with a team you will be on your own.

As a class we used our Historical Figure Trading Cards in a role playing game. We went through the following presentation and followed the directions on each slide. Use your Trading Cards to go through the presentation and see how much each of your Trading Cards is worth!

Background: This game is based on one of my favorite TV shows, Doctor Who. Doctor Who is about an alien that looks like a person named The Doctor. The Doctor is very smart and very kind, but he had lots of crazy adventures. Sometimes he takes humans with him. The Doctor travels in a spaceship called the Tardis. The Tardis is shown to the left. (It's bigger on the inside.) The Tardis travels through time and space, so The Doctor can go anywhere and anywhen. (This is important to understanding the game.)

How much were your historical Figure Trading cards worth?
(Teachers can purchase a full version of the mini unit, including the full Power Point with sound, here.)
