Theme: Interaction of EoF

I can analyze how the elements of fiction interact to create theme.

Today we started class by talking about how setting affects plot. We watched the following clip from Frozen. As you watch, notice that the story would turn out differently if  the setting were different. For example, Hans would never been able to convince Elsa that her sister was dead if it had not been for the storm. The storm prevented Elsa from seeing Anna. Had Elsa seen Anna, she would have behaved differently. It's possible that Anna would not have been saved her true love for her sister.

Did you notice how the setting affected the plot?

Now watch this clip from Beauty and the Beast. See if you can figure out how the exposition and rising action would be different if the setting were different.

Finally, we read chapters 17-20 of Freak the Mighty and filled out the worksheet below.
